Himalayan International Residential School

The idea of a fully residential school spread across a sizable campus was first put up by Mr. S.K. Agarwal, formerly known as "Himalayan Academy," in the early 1990s. Having succeeded in academics and games throughout his own school days, Mr. Agarwal was enthralled with the idea of a school that would aim to bring out the best in a child as well as focus on academics. During a visit to the seaside city of Chennai, he happened to see a residential school, which turned his desire into a goal. He came back with a plan to establish something akin in our own Eastern India. Having little experience in business, it took him over five years to organize and arrange the funds needed to launch the school.  

There have been two significant turning points in the school's 25-year history: the first occurred in 2009 when the Cambridge Curriculum was implemented, changing "Himalayan Academy" to "Himalayan International Residential School," and the second occurred in 2018 when we started providing day school services to nearby communities.
